Energizing Work
Expansive Horizons
As a part of The MENTOR Network, South Carolina MENTOR’s employees are part of a growing organization that’s been at the forefront of providing community-based care for more than 30 years.
Day Programs
South Carolina MENTOR’s Day Programs offer a wide variety of structured activities, social interaction and skill-building opportunities that enrich the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our center-based programs create an atmosphere that offers structure and excitement for program participants who look forward to seeing their friends and staff members each day.
Our modern location is designed to meet a range of individualized skills and interests. We place a priority on community involvement and provide an array of engaging activities to help individuals grow and reach their goals while developing new hobbies and interests. Depending on an adult’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP), he or she may take part in goal-driven classes or activities—both at the program location and in the community—involving:

We also offer job preparedness as part of our day programs which provides opportunities for individuals to get assistance with writing resumes, filling out job applications, preparing for job interviews and searching for employment. We partner with local businesses—such as Burger King, Walgreens, and Walmart—where individuals can earn a paycheck and learn more about responsibilities.
Our program participants also have the opportunity to get out in the community and attend workshops where they can earn wages for duties involving gardening, working with recyclables, and other fulfilling jobs.
Therapeutic Service and Support
Our staff provides personalized support and individualized training to boost individuals’ confidence and help them learn new skills. In addition, we encourage adults to participate in group activities where they can interact with other members of the day program and the community. We incorporate structured learning and fun to help individuals reach personal goals that include:

We also offer active treatment and therapeutic services to individuals whose needs are more involved or those who exhibit challenging behaviors. We focus on helping adults improve their social skills, such communication, manners and anger management through group treatment exercises or one-on-one therapy sessions. We also utilize community-based physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and sensory stimulation.
Whether individuals live in group homes, intermediate care facilities, Host Homes or their own home, South Carolina MENTOR offers transportation services to ensure they can attend the day program of their choosing. We help each person find an Adult Day Training program that is right for them and meet goals that change their lives for the better.
